Why Too Choose A Pedal Car Ride On Over Battery Powered
So your 2 to 5 year old wants to drive a big car “Just like Mommy and Daddy?” How cute is that?
How do you choose which is better and safer for your child? Here are few reasons Pedal Cars are a better choice for your child and you.
- Pedal Cars enforces the importance of exercise at an early age for your child
- With a Pedal Car you do not have to charge the battery a couple hours for a few hours of fun
- A Pedal Car can be charged by giving your child a snack or juice
- No potentially harmful equipment (battery) for inquisitive hands and minds to explore
Pedal Cars provide hours of fun and exercise. Exercise keeps your child healthy. They sleep better and are less cranky. This also benefits you.
Battery powered ride-on toys need their batteries charged a couple hours for a few hours of play. With a Pedal Car as long as your child has the energy the batteries are already charged and ready to go.
With a Pedal Car if your child gets tired or runs out of energy a light snack or some juice can recharge them enough to go back to having fun.
With small children every little thing can be a potential hazard. Why add to that with something your child will be tempted to explore like a battery. With a Pedal Car there is one less temptation for little hands and minds to explore.
Now you as the parent need to decide which is best for you and your child. Battery powered or a Pedal Car ride-on?
Pedal Cars and Ride-On Toys: Safety First
So you have decided to purchase a Pedal Car or other ride-on toy for your child. Congrats. Your child is now thinking you’re the “Greatest Mom or Dad on the Planet.” Be ready for this to be your child’s favorite out-door toy.
Let’s talk a little about basic safety for Pedal Cars and ride-on toys. It does not matter if it is a Pedal Car, Pedal Fire Engine or a tricycle. All pedal toys are pedal powered and have basic dos and don’ts for the safety of your child.
· Always supervise your child at play time when riding a Pedal Car or other ride-on pedal toy
· Never allow more than one child to ride on the Pedal Car at a time
· Never allow your child to be pushed while in the Pedal Car
· Pedal Cars should always be drove in child safe areas
· Do not forget driveway safety
As with any new toy a Pedal Car is something your child is going to be proud of. He or she will want to show off and share this bright shinny new ride-on. Always know where your child is and give them limits to how far and where they can ride their Pedal Car.
Pedal Cars are designed for one rider. Never allow more than one child to ride on a Pedal Car at a time. They do have weight limits and could turn over injuring both children. Read the directions and cautions that comes with the Pedal Car and advise your child why they are important. Their safety and your peace of mind.
A pedal car or any pedal powered toy should never be pushed with a child in it, even by an adult. Even if your child wants to go, “Faster, please faster.” Pedal toys are designed for leg power and only go as fast as little legs can pump. If the car is pushed a small child’s legs may not be able to go as fast to keep up with the pedaling or they could come off the pedals. Either one resulting in an injury to the child.
Pedal Cars and all ride-on toys should be rode in child safe areas. Do not allow your child to ride on the street or on a down slopping area. Cars many not see them on the street because of the low profile of the ride-on toy. Sloping area may cause your child not to be able to stop when they need to.
Make sure your child is aware of drive way safety. If this is an area your child is permitted to ride in, the drive should be empty of all vehicles and the entrance should be blocked so cars do not pull in. Trash cans make a good blockade. If a car is parked in the drive remember the low profile of the ride-on toy. The child might not be seen behind any parked vehicle, in the drive or anywhere else. This needs no more explanation.
So when common sense and good judgment are used a Pedal Car or any pedal powered ride-on toy can provide hour upon hour of safe fun for your child, not to mention the fitness benefits. Remember to take plenty of pictures to share these memories in years to come.
